The Club featured many of the best black entertainers and jazz musicians of the era including Lena Horne, Duke Ellington, Adelaide Hall, Count Basie, Bessie Smith, Cab Calloway, Lottie Gee, Ella Fitzgerald, Fats Waller, Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole, Billie Holiday, and Ethel Waters. During its heyday, the Cotton Club served as a hip meeting spot featuring regular "Celebrity Nights" which featured celebrity guests such as Jimmy Durante, George Gershwin, Sophie Tucker, Al Jolson, Mae West, Irving Berlin, Fanny Brice, Langston Hughes, Judy Garland, among others.

“A Nite at the Cotton Club” is a variety show review that is actually a collage of some of the best remembered songs and performers that existed during the era of the Cotton Club.
