Southern Broadway got its start when two local women, Susan Gilmore and Lydia Dillingham, produced their first dinner theater and offered it to the public as a fundraiser in 2007. The play was called “Coming Home” and was written by Lydia Dillingham. The show was produced and performed to a sold-out crowd of more than 300 and the feedback from patrons was overwhelmingly positive. After much consideration and thought, Susan and Lydia decided to launch Southern Broadway Theater Company. Initially the talents were equally divided. Susan would design and build the sets, market the company with a great website and graphics, and would also maintain the box office. Lydia would devote her time and talents to creating, writing, and directing all the original plays to be produced by the company. Southern Broadway Theater Company was born.
